Water All Around Us: The Power of Water

Last week, students created their own river to explore how water moves within rivers as well as how it can change sand, soil, and rocks.  Students were introduced to erosion and were able to observe it with their creation of their own "rivers."

Students testing out what happens to their "river" once water begins to flow.

Students drawing out what their "rivers" look like.

Observing what happened to their rocks and sand once their "river" began flowing.
Students recording their observations after testing out their "rivers."

Is erosion a good or bad thing for the environment?  Why?  Visitors share your thoughts!!

  1. If you have a beach house, it will come crashing down because erosion broke the land down. No, I do not think erosion is good.

  2. Erosion could be good or bad. It depends. It might be breaking the land but, the erosion could make a place for people to live.
